Pump type Ks 50-55-2

Model: Ks 50-55-2

Pump type Ks 50-55-2

The KS 50-55-2-C pump and the electro-pump unit based on it are designed for pumping condensate in steam-water networks of thermal power plants operating on organic fuel, as well as fluids similar to condensate in viscosity and chemical activity.

The pumps are manufactured in UHL climate version — intended for macroclimatic regions with temperate and cold climates, placement category 4 — operation in rooms (volumes) with artificially regulated climatic conditions according to GOST 15150-69.

APPLICATION OF KS 50-55-2 CONDENSATE PUMP

The condensate pump belongs to a special group of power pumps, which operate under deep vacuum conditions and minimal geometric suction head. It is designed for pumping condensate in steam-water networks of thermal power plants operating on organic fuel, water up to 125 °C in heating and water supply systems, metallurgy, as well as fluids similar to condensate in viscosity and chemical activity.

The KS 50-55-2 condensate pump is driven by an asynchronous squirrel-cage rotor electric motor with a power of 15 kW. The overall system efficiency (η) is 61 %.

MAIN REQUIREMENTS FOR THE DESIGN OF KS 50-55-2 CONDENSATE PUMP:

  • High reliability and energy efficiency;
  • Long service life – mean time to major overhaul not less than 28,000 hours (when all maintenance requirements are met);
  • External tightness and absence of internal leaks at rotor and stator joints;
  • Dynamic stability across the full range of operating modes;
  • Stable, continuously decreasing head curve to ensure stable parallel operation;
  • Correct selection of materials for main components to ensure required service life under operating conditions;
  • High degree of standardization.

CONSTRUCTION FEATURES OF KS 50-55-2 CONDENSATE PUMP:

  • Horizontal design – ensures high vibration resistance, reduces shaft misalignment, and extends component life;
  • Sectional type – allows changing the head characteristic by reducing or increasing the number of impellers without changing flow;
  • Single-stage with single-entry impeller – special design of the first stage to ensure reliable operation at minimal suction heads. A pre-installed axial wheel is placed in front of the first-stage impeller, providing additional suction and cavitation-free operation;
  • Pump casing consists of suction and discharge covers with an intermediate spacer with guide apparatus. Covers and spacer are aligned on cylindrical grooves and bolted together. Covers are cast, including nozzle connections and support feet. Discharge nozzle is vertical, suction nozzle is horizontal perpendicular to the pump axis. Flanged connections. The discharge cover has a threaded hole for connecting the balance piston chamber to the inlet pipe. Bearing and seal housings are attached to the covers. Thermal expansion along the pump axis is accommodated with key slots in the suction cover and pins in the discharge cover;
  • Rotor is an assembly unit consisting of shaft, impeller, pre-installed wheel, balance piston, bushings, sealing and fastening components. Components are fixed with keys and nuts. A gap between the impeller and piston compensates thermal expansion;
  • Rotor axial force is absorbed by the balance piston;
  • Rotor supported by external rolling bearings – drive side: ball radial bearing for radial and residual axial loads; other side: roller radial bearing for radial loads. Bearings are greased (grease), air-cooled;
  • Mechanical seals – gland type with hydraulic seal ring, cooled with pressurized cold condensate to prevent air ingress. Cooling also from condensate supplied to a chamber between seal housing and bushing;
  • Pump casing is covered with a protective decorative sheet metal housing attached to suction and discharge covers;
  • Torque transmission from motor to pump via flexible sleeve-finger coupling.
