Applications of pump TsN 60-180.
The pump is used as the main pump in the make-up unit of the primary circuit purge-and-make-up system of a nuclear power plant with the VVER-1000 reactor (supplying water to the seals of the main circulation pumps, as well as replenishing regulated and non-regulated leaks in the primary circuit of the nuclear power plant unit). The pump allows pumping of deaerated water with temperatures up to 70 °C with radioactivity up to 0.1 curie/l (3.7 × 1012 Bq/m3), boric acid content up to 40 g/kg, permissible content of mechanical impurities with a size of no more than 0.1 mm in an amount of no more than 0.3 mg/kg, KOH alkali content up to 40 mg/kg, and 2% ammonia solution. The pump also allows pumping of the liquids that have properties similar to the above in terms of chemical activity and similar properties to water in terms of viscosity and temperatures up to 75 °C.

An asynchronous three-phase electric motor 2AZM1-800/6000 with a power of 800 kW and a synchronous rotation speed of 3000 rpm is used as a drive for the TsN 60-180 pump. The rotation speed is increased and adjusted using the MG-M-500 hydraulic coupling (with a built-in step up gearbox).
Basic requirements for the design of the TsN 60-180 pump:
- high reliability and efficiency;
- long service life – average service life before major overhaul is at least 20,000 hours (subject to all maintenance requirements);
- dynamic stability over the entire range of operating modes;
- stable operation of the pump when connected in parallel;
- correct selection of materials for the main parts that provide the required service life under operating conditions;
- high degree of unification;
- ease of assembly, disassembly, maintenance and high maintainability of the pumps under operating conditions.
Design features of the pump TsN 60-180:
- horizontal design. Provides high resistance to vibrations and reduces the likelihood of shaft misalignment, increases the service life of component parts;
- double-cased with a sectional inner casing with a connector in a plane running perpendicular to the pump axis. Characterized by a high level of maintainability, ease of maintenance and installation, ease of operation, and high strength properties. The inner casing is removed from the non-drive end (opposite to the coupling), which ensures assembly and disassembly of the pump without disconnecting the pipelines and dismantling the outer casing;
- The outer casing of the pump is a forged steel 12Х18Н10Т with welded pipes and support feet. The inlet and discharge pipes are directed upward, perpendicular to the axis of rotation of the pump;
- the inner housing consists of a rotor and sections with guide vanes and sealing rings installed in them. The sections are secured with studs;
- The rotor is a separate assembly unit and consists of a shaft, impellers, a balance disk, protective bushings, rings, fasteners and a pump coupling half. The impellers are secured to the shaft against axial movements by embedded split rings;
- the balance disc is used to unload the rotor from axial force;
- the rotor supports are external slide bearings with forced lubrication from an individual oil system;
- end seals are mechanical type;
- transmission of torque from the engine to the hydrodynamic coupling and further to the pump is carried out using gear couplings.

The outer casing of the pump is made of the stainless steel 12Х18Н10Т, the pressure cover and discharge disk are made of steel 20Х13, the impellers are made of steel 20Х13Л, the balance disc pad is made of steel 30Х13, the shaft is made of steel 14Х17Н2, which provides excellent strength and corrosion resistance.

- The use of a flexible plate coupling as a power transmission (between the motor and the pump) in order to improve the vibration characteristics and increase the reliability of the pump unit.
- VDS monitoring system: The pump can be equipped with a VDS monitoring system, which includes vibration, rotation speed and temperature sensors. Those allow to collect, analyze and store data on the condition of the pumping unit, allowing timely identification of potential problems and planning of maintenance.
